49% of in-house counsel EXPECT law firms to use Generative AI*🤖.
In other words CLIENTS DEMAND time efficiency ⏰ from their lawyers.
In the last of my “7 DEADLY SINS🐍 OF TIME MANAGEMENT”** , I touch on lawyers’ resistance to tech.
Indeed I remember a conversation I had with a provider of “smart” legal documents about his employment contract offering.
I admit my lawyer mentality baulked at the “fraction of a the cost” 💰 words.
However, I did increasingly use such tools and, yes, my time efficiency increased.
To put it more uncomfortably: I was charging less to clients for basic drafting.
However, rather than fight it I knew was best to be efficient here but save the real added value for complex areas.
We also need to face the reality that with generative AI there will be fewer and fewer areas of drafting that will be complex.
The added value will be at the reviewing and reality check stage to make sure the documents are legally accurate and reflect our clients’ business reality.
